Where nature and tradition meet
The parish of Santa María de Viñoás, where Adega do Mollón is located, lies in Nogueira de Ramuín, a municipality in Ourense traditionally known as the birthplace of knife sharpeners and umbrella makers, and forms part of the beautiful natural area known as Ribeira Sacra.
Nogueira de Ramuín has a variety of traditional buildings that add beauty to the area, including mills, public ovens, chapels, megalithic monuments and churches, such as those of the monasteries of San Esteba, San Cristóbal, San Martín and San Salvador de Loña.
History
From the 6th century onwards, the arrival of hermit monks seeking to escape busy social life and devote themselves to contemplation and sacrifice led to the construction of numerous monasteries. From the 11th century onwards, these monasteries formed the foundations of the area's economic, social and religious life. Monasteries such as Santo Estebo de Ribas de Sil clearly reflect the area's affinity for contemplative life and magnificent views.
The monks, aided by the mild climate, developed and improved vine cultivation, which has been a centuries-old tradition for many local families.
The vineyards, carved into the steep slopes, reflect the enormous effort of generations who, for centuries, have worked these mountains until becoming part of the landscape itself.
Ribeira Sacra Designation of Origin Wines.
Ribeira Sacra, one of Spain's most spectacular wine-growing regions, lies along the banks of the Miño and Sil rivers in inland Galicia, between the provinces of Lugo and Ourense.
The Ribeira Sacra D.O. was established in 1997 and comprises five subzones: Amandi, Chantada, Quiroga-Bibei, Ribeiras do Miño and Ribeiras do Sil. The grapes grow on narrow terraces set into the steep slopes above the Sil and Miño rivers. Vines were planted here centuries ago by monks from monasteries built during the Middle Ages, between the 8th and 12th centuries, hence the name Ribeira Sacra D.O.
Where we are
The landscape is characterised by steep slopes that plunge towards the river from heights of more than 500 metres, and by climatic conditions marked by high temperatures in summer and cool temperatures in winter.
Monastic life, which was particularly widespread in this area during the Early Middle Ages, led to a high concentration of Romanesque monasteries and churches in Galicia.
The tranquillity, seclusion and mystery of this area can still be felt today and are among its main attractions for visitors.
The Wine Club

It is based on a very limited production concentrated in a small area, with a focus on quality throughout the entire process, from vineyard to bottle, under the control of its creator and owner. Our aim is not simply to sell wine, but to create a circle of customers and friends who identify with the wine and with whom we want to maintain a lasting relationship.
